Winchester’s Next Death Café:
Tuesday 1st October at 5.30pm
Upstairs at Toscanaccio, 73 Parchment Street, Winchester, SO23 8AT
What is Death Café?
Death Café is a free community event, where participants gather to discuss openly issues around death, dying, funerals and bereavement over a drink and perhaps a slice of cake or pastry. There is no agenda and no speaker, discussions grow from the thoughts and issues that those who are in the room want to discuss on the day. Your facilitators will help to ensure everyone has a chance to contribute. The idea behind Death Café is to make end of life an easier subject to talk about.
Death Café is not able to provide grief counselling or bereavement support. If you are struggling with bereavement please contact Winchester Bereavement Support.
Is there are charge to attend?
There is no charge to attend the Death Café, but you are able to purchase refreshments on the day. Soft and hot drinks, wines by the glass and bottled beers are available.
How did Death Café come about?
Death Café was founded in the UK in 2011 and to date more than 9,000 Death Cafés have been held in 65 different countries. For more information on the Death Café movement and useful resources see: https://deathcafe.com/
Who are the Winchester facilitators?

About the venue
Toscanaccio is an independent Italian wine merchant, so the shop looks like an off licence at street level. Don’t be alarmed – the upstairs room is an ideal venue for group discussion, quiet and private. Cat, the owner, is very supportive of the Winchester community and allows us to use the room free of charge. For this reason, we would be grateful if attendees purchase a drink if they are able to.
Unfortunately the space is not wheelchair accessible as it is upstairs. Death Café has no budget and we have been unable to find any accessible spaces which are available for our use without charge.
